On 24 October, millions around the world will mark International Climate Day—a moment to remember that while the climate challenge is global, the solutions start with each of us. It’s not about waiting for others to act, but about recognising that every decision we make ripples outward and adds momentum to a collective movement.

In October 2024 we launched the Climate Catalyst Competition, in an effort to find and fund local climate champions with innovative ideas and the great energy to get those ideas off the ground. We are proud to announce our Climate Catalyst Competition Winners of 2024/25!

In October 2024, we launched the Climate Network Participation Fund to help individuals and groups engage with CCAN, strengthen connections, and gain climate leadership experience over six months. After receiving strong applications, we’re excited to introduce our three fundholders for this period.

Helping more people get on, or back on, bikes is what community bike hubs are all about. EcoMatters opened the doors to its ninth location, this one in Forrest Hill on the North Shore, in mid-September.

Plastic and metal caps and lids can now be collected and recycled instead of ending up in landfill with the rollout of a new recycling programme.
